Jesse CARLTON partage son expérience avec nous...
I am called Happy Ndongo Jesse Carlton. I was born on 1st of August 1992 in Douala, Cameroon. Founder and director of a non-profit organisation called CarltonSmile charity. The mission here is to bridge the gap between the generous and the needy throughout South Africa, Cameroon, Gabon and Zimbabwe. Our actions are mainly geared towards assisting orphans.
Equally the founder of CT consulting, a company that specialises in personal and professional development. The company has two main segments which are the youths and companies. The youth program is all about enabling them clarify their passion and transform it into a profession. On the otherhand we enable companies come up with marketing plan and train the staff to ensure their better implementation and success.
Thirdly, Happy Jesse is equally a writer, under the name of Mr. Africa. Recently published a book entitled "The WHAT WHY and HOW of CHARITY". I share my experience on the early days of SMILE CHARITY and explain how much being charitable contributes to the personal and professional development of every individual.
Your fist path in Entrepreneurship...
After spending four years at St Joseph's College Sasse, i obtained my ordinary and advanced level at Orchidee Bilingual College, Douala, in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Then flew to Johannesburg in South Africa where I obtained a Bachelor in Business administration and honours in business management both from Midrand graduate institute. Finally landed back in Cameroon on the 6th of December 2013 with a firm determination to contribute in the development of my country.
Why do you decide to become Entrepreneur...
I was inspired by the english entrepreneur, Richard Branson, whom i first heard about during a business management class. He dropped out of high school and launched his first business at 16 years old. I was 17 at the time in first year university, and said to myself that "If he could do it at that age then I can, I will, I must!". I did a few things like host college parties, sell phones, head phones, almost started a car wash at some point, just because i was passionate about applying classroom theory. Things got to the next level when i started CarltonSmile charity on the 29th of March 2013. It didn't bring in any money, but it was still about planning, organising , leading and control. Then a year later when I came back to Cameroon, 2014 I started CT consulting and being in a certain "vibe" or habbit of an entrepreneur, things were a little bite more simple. I said simply, not easy.
The faced difficulties???
I am into personal development and that is not a field which is not very common in my country. Most people have a professional growth plan, but very few have a personal growth plan. When we all know that the results you provide on a professional level depends on how stable the individual is. (Le savoire faire depend du savoir être) . So i went through a hard time educating the minds about the importance of personal development. This indicated that money will not be coming in soon. However with passion, patience, and perseverance there is always a way. I am still not making millons but slowly and surely we building.
On a personal level, at some point I felt like my parents did not really understand what i am doing and why i am doing it. However, I stayed open minded, clearly spelt out the vision to them and i am lucky to have had their support.
Your Motivations...
My biggest motivation is history. Lots of people have worked hard and lost their lives for us to have the blessings we have today. I would love your grand kids to equally read something that will make them proud to be Africans and work to do better. Peter Drucker rightfully said that the best way to predict the future is to invent it. I know that by inventing the future, I am equally writing the new pages of history. Ofcourse my family is a strong source of motivation too. I grew up not always having everything that I wanted, but I had what I needed. It is only right that i do the same for the next person and generation.
Advices....
Success is not a destination but a journey. The successful results you obtain at an exam for example, is determined by what you did on a daily basis through out the year. Your dream is not just an arrival point but something that you build every single day. I would love to advice the African youths to be consistent in what we do. It is useless working hard today and the following week pulling your feet because of so called lack of motivation. It is your dream, your motivation should come from within, so whatever you do, just be consistent and sooner or later the work will bear the fruits.
